Abstract

Visual-spatial ability is an important aspect that influences various dimensions of children’s intelligence and life, ranging from academic, motoric, to social aspects. Children with good visual-spatial skills tend to more easily understand mathematical concepts, read maps, arrange objects, and solve problems related to space and shapes. This study aims to develop a learning device in the form of constructive play using block media as a reference for teachers in delivering learning focused on improving the visual-spatial ability of children aged 4 to 5 years. The development model used is ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), with data collection techniques including interviews and questionnaires, analyzed using parametric tests to determine significance levels. The results show that the developed learning device has a practicality level of 91.63% (very practical category) for the teaching module and 72.20% (practical category) for the guidebook. Teachers’ assessment of the module’s effectiveness shows a percentage of 88.33% (very effective category). Furthermore, parametric test results indicate a significance value of 0.350 > 0.05, concluding that the development of the constructive play learning device using block media in the form of a teaching module has a significant impact on improving the visual-spatial ability of children aged 4 to 5 years. This study recommends developing more varied teaching modules and integrating these modules into the early childhood education curriculum.
