Abstract

Early childhood is a critical period for individuals with the greatest potential who need tools in the form of media to facilitate the realization of successful development. The purpose of writing this article is to review the literature on the use of media to introduce English to early childhood. The type of article written uses descriptive qualitative methods using literature studies. The literature study carried out included reviewing articles that were relevant to the title, articles were searched on the Google Scholar search database using three keywords, namely media, English and early childhood. Then articles were selected based on year of publication (2020 to 2024), as well as articles with title continuity published in the accredited national journal Sinta 1-6. The results of the reduction of 20 articles were used as study material. The results of the study refer to the task questions which include: (1) The media used are generally visual media, audio media, audiovisual media, and digital media; (2) The introduction of English is usually linked to the development of listening, speaking, reading and writing language skills in the introduction of English vocabulary in early childhood; and (3) In general, the early childhood subjects used are in the age range of 4-6 years. Based on a literature review, it was found that using media can make it easier for young children to construct knowledge based on the experience of learning English in a fun way. The impact of this article's study can help parents or educators in introducing English according to the characteristics of early childhood abilities
