Abstract
This study explores the effect of using Tangga Pintar media on the development of numeracy skills in early childhood, as well as the role of parental care as a supporting factor. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method involving children aged 4-6 years in Bandaran Village, Tlanakan District, Pamekasan Regency. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with parents, and focus group discussions (FGD), then analyzed using thematic analysis methods. The results show that Tangga Pintar media is effective in improving understanding of basic mathematical concepts, with significant improvements in number recognition, simple addition and subtraction, and number sequencing. The majority of children showed significant progress in these aspects. Active parental involvement with authoritative care strengthens the positive impact of using the media. This study introduces the concept of "Hybrid Scaffolding," which integrates the use of physical media with social-emotional guidance in creating a holistic learning environment. These findings contribute to the early childhood education literature by emphasizing the integration of physical media and the role of care in shaping children's numeracy skills comprehensively, as well as providing implications for curriculum development that integrates the use of physical learning media with supportive parenting strategies at home.
