Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation process, the development of character abilities, and the
inhibiting factors and solutions for the implementation of habituation methods in character building for
children aged 5-6 years at TK Negeri 1 Samarinda. The approach in this research is qualitative research
with the type of case study. The results showed that (1) the process of implementing the implementation of
the habituation method in shaping the character of children aged 5-6 years in TK Negeri 1 Samarinda was
implemented by teachers, namely through routine activities, spontaneous activities, exemplary activities,
and programmed activities; (2) the development of character abilities of children aged 5-6 years through the
habituation method in TK Negeri 1 Samarinda was observed in 14 children in group B5, 12 children
experienced an increase in development in character building according to the intended indicators of
greetings, speech, discipline, attitude, and independence from the first to the eighth week, and; (3) inhibiting
factors and solutions in the implementation of the habituation method in character building for children
aged 5-6 years in TK Negeri 1 Samarinda include parents, teachers, schools, parenting, and child behavior. Thus, this study contributes to optimizing character building in children 5-6 years old through the
habituation method.
